About one century and half ago , in the heart of the mountains , between Ardeal and Moldova , appeared one of the Carpathians jewels : The Red Lake. Etymologically speaking its name comes from Red Brook which crosses layers of red iron oxides and hydroxides.  Red Lake is a natural dam , formed after land slides provoked by massive rains in 1837 , which blocked the valley to junction with important debit rivers. The water mirror is still impelled with petrified tree stumps , remainder of the old flooded forest , which actually gives the charm and originality of the lake.  Because practically all the valleys have forest roads that end in peak routes you can practise here very well  mountain bike   ; and also hiking is possible , considering there are over 25 routes in limestone , with various angles and difficulty levels. The Red Lake is located in Hasmas Masif , near Bicaz Gorge ( evelation 3,215 feet).

The resort is recommended for nervous system diseases.
